Realsteone's "Crowmoder" bust

3dprinting airbrushing painting bust figurine realsteone

Here's a print and paint of the bust version of Realsteone miniatures' "Crowmoder" bust. You can find the STLs (for free!) over in their store on MyMiniFactory.

This was a free download off of Realsteon's MyMiniFactory. There's a ton of cool sculpts on there so I'd definitely recommend checking them out!

It took me a while to finish painting this from being distracted by other projects, but I started with a quick primer, basing out the colours and then added a grungy wash and drybrushed. I couldn't decide on the skin colour to use with her and this was about the 4th different attempt. It went from pink, to green, to brown, to this kinda zombie-flesh-grey thing. I'm pretty happy with the final result.

I think she turned out great. The usual crits - it could have used some additional clean up of support-marks and minor details, but you know the drill with me by now. There was no pre-supported version, too, so I did the align/support myself and may have rushed it a little bit. There are so many small details, though, that it was always going to be difficult.

I think I'd really like to attempt something more saturated and colourful to see how that feels too for a future print.

Who I am

I'm Blake and I like to tinker with things and make stuff. When I'm not programming or developing random systems, I'm playing with electronics, doodling bits of art, 3D modelling or sculpting and painting things or nerding out watching sci-fi or horror TV.

From 2001 I worked in the games industry, eventually specialising in tools to aid in the development of video games and their engines. In 2011 I left the industry and teamed up with a few other talented composers to utilise my knowledge to help build the company 'Spitfire Audio'.

I also periodically compose soundtracks for video-games and have worked on titles such as The Stanley Parable and Portal Knights. You've probably also heard my music in random TV commercials at some point.
